Are you counting down the days till TRON: Legacy gets released?  Do you wish you could have visited the set while the production was filming in Vancouver?   Have you always wanted to see what really goes on behind the scenes when a movie is getting filmed?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, you’re about to have a geekgasm.  That’s because Walt Disney has released the EPK for TRON: Legacy and included are 15 minutes of behind the scenes footage (B-Roll) from when the movie was getting made.  Here’s just some of the stuff that’s included:

  • Behind the scenes footage from the End of Line club
  • Daft Punk in costume walking onto set
  • Michael Sheen getting ready to film his scenes in the End of Line club
  • Joseph Kosinski directing the actors
  • Jeff Bridges wearing the special helmet to record his scenes as Clu
  • Tons of footage of the practical sets and the actors getting ready to film
  • Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde performing a scene and getting ready for some stunts
  • Jeff Bridges house in the Tron universe and what it was like behind the scenes
  • Cast goofing around behind the scenes
  • Filming on location in Vancouver
  • Behind the scenes footage from Flynn’s Arcade

But I’ve left out the best part…all the footage is set to the music of Daft Punk!  Want to see and hear more?  Hit the jump:

Finally, if you missed the 4 movie clips I just posted, click here.  Also, here’s a link to all our previous TRON: Legacy coverage.  We’ve got interviews, trailers, posters, a set visit, and so much more.  Look for a ton of new interviews the week Tron gets released.

You’re going to love this behind the scenes footage:

This is the footage I want more than just clips. I want behind the scenes stuff. Non-spoilery stuff like this. Cast goofing around, Daft Punk being led to their marks.

What’s sorta funny is that there are two fairly large spoilers in this clip… most people will probably never spot ‘em though.

THIS IS NOT “B-ROLL”!!!! How many time must I point out the fact that Collider is mis-labeling these clips as “B-ROLL”? They did it a few weeks ago with Harry Potter too. Once again, for those paying attention: “B-ROLL” is footage that’s INCLUDED IN THE MOVIE but has no actors in it, or has no main action, or it’s from the “B” camera; ie: Traffic/city shots, aerials, birds/animals, landscapes, etc. What this footage here is called is actually “BTS”, or “Behind The Scenes.” That’s the title for the person filming said videos. Ask anyone in the business & they will tell you this is true. Now come on Collider – get your shit together. You guys are an awesome site, but this is just lazy/inexcusable.

THIS IS NOT “B-ROLL”!!! For fuck’s sake, how many times must it be pointed out to you Collider. This is “BTS”, or “Behind the Scenes” footage. Look it up/ask anyone in the industry, and you’ll learn that “B-ROLL” is footage that’s INCLUDED IN THE FILM, but has no actors/main action in it; ie: traffic/city scapes, aerial footage, landscapes, or any footage from “B-Camera”, hence: “B-Roll.” Don’t get me wrong Collider, your site rules, but this is just lazy/inexcusable for a movie news website not to understand the basic definitions/differences between “B-Roll” & “BTS.” The on-set job title for the person that films these little videos is…. wait for it….. “BTS.” Get your shit together & stop labeling these vids as “B-Roll.”

you are 100% WRONG. when Disney gave us these clips, the title card says B-ROLL. while that not be the right way to label these videos, that is how they’re sending it out. So that’s why I label it behind the scenes footage and b-roll.

      • Malaguy @

I’m not 100% wrong. You yourself just said “that not be the right way to label these videos,” (nice grammar by the way) so how can I be 100% wrong, if you turn around and say that? Even if that is the way Disney labeled the clips, you should use a little common sense & if you know it’s not the proper label, then don’t use it. You could even point out the discrepancy yourself & if anything, that would gain you guys a little credibility; ie: “Collider knows there shit, but apparently Disney doesn’t. Go Collider!” So no, I’m not 100% wrong. You are.

      • Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub @

you’re right. You are not 100% wrong. I shouldn’t have written that.

      • Malaguy @

Thank you. I appreciate that. I also didn’t mean to sound so aggressive towards Collider. I love your site. Between you guys & /Film I don’t feel the need to really go anywhere else for my film news. The “B-roll”/”BTS” thing is just such a common misconception that I feel the need to correct it when I see it used wrongly.
