Last night before its Sunday programming, HBO unveiled a new True Blood season 7 trailer for the show’s upcoming final batch of episodes. Though the previous teaser only hinted at the troubles to come for the folks of Bon Temps, this one delves a bit deeper into the peril that results from the zombie-like Hep V-infected vampires. The trailer opens with multiple flashbacks that show just how much Bon Temps/True Blood has changed since its early seasons (spoiler alert: a lot), but I’m encouraged by the smaller focus of this final stretch of episodes.
Hit the jump to watch the True Blood season 7 trailer. The series stars Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Deborah Ann Woll, Rutina Wesley, Sam Trammell, Joe Manganiello, Ryan Kwanten, and Chris Bauer. True Blood kicks off its seventh and final season on HBO Sunday, June 22nd at 9pm ET/PT.
Here’s the synopsis for True Blood:
TRUE BLOOD begins its ten-episode, seventh and final season SUNDAY, JUNE 22 at 9:00 p.m. Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, the series takes place in a world where vampires and humans co-exist, after vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans as a nutritional source. The series follows waitress and part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people’s thoughts, vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård). Alan Ball created the show, which is based on the bestselling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.
