While serving prison time on a weapons charge, the late hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur penned his first and only screenplay, Live 2 Tell. Today, Variety reports that Shakur’s script has been acquired by NStar Studios with production on the film looking to begin by March of next year. Per the report, the film will operate under an $11 million budget and centers on a “teenage drug lord and his efforts to leave a life of crime.” Preston Holmes and Shakur’s mother Afeni will co-produce Live 2 Tell having already collaborated on the 2003 documentary Tupac: Resurrection. Hustle and Flow producer Dwight Williams will co-produce as well. In addition to Live 2 Tell, Shakur’s silver screen presence will also be bolstered by the Antoine Fuqua-directed biopic, Tupac, which is scheduled to begin production this summer.
