TV News: PACIFIC Premiere; First Casting on New Shows From J.J. Abrams and BURN NOTICE’s Matt Nix; New CHUCK Poster and Marathon

According to Variety, HBO’s The Pacific, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks’ highly-awaited, spiritual-sequel to Band of Brothers, is set to air its first of ten parts on March 14 with a new hour-long episode set to air every Sunday through May 16th.  The miniseries follows the Pacific campaign of World War II and stars James Badge Dale (24), Jon Seda (Bad Boys II), and Joseph Mazzello (Jurassic Park).

j.j._abrams__1_.jpgGerald McRaney (Deadwood) is the first actor to be cast in J.J. Abrams’s pilot for the upcoming series Undercovers.  Not much is known about the show other than it’s being billed as a cross between Mr. & Mrs. Smith and The Bourne Identity and is about revolves around spouses Samantha and Steven Bloom, who work together as spies.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, “McRaney plays their boss, a CIA operative who recruited the couple and serves as the agency’s liaison with then.”

In other casting news, Jenny Wade has joined Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford in Matt Nix’s upcoming Fox cop series Jack and Dan.  Here’s how THR describes the show and Wade’s role in it:

The 13-episode “Jack and Dan,” from Fox TV Studios, centers on Jack (Hanks), an ambitious, by-the-book detective in a dead-end post at the LAPD who is partnered with Dan (Whitford), a drunken, lecherous cop who hangs onto his job only because of a heroic act years before.

Wade will play Liz, a tough and quick-witted assistant district attorney who used to date Jack and is now in frequent work-related contact with him.

Finally, SyFy will be airing an 8-hour marathon of Chuck on Thursday, January 7th to help promote the show’s two-hour season premiere on January 10th.  Also, NBC has released a new poster for the show which you can check out below:
