Marlon Wayans (G.I. Joe) has been cast as a dollar bill in the upcoming Harmony Korine picture Twinkle, Twinkle. Let me repeat: according to TheWrap, Marlon Wayans has been cast as a dollar bill. All right — technically he’ll be playing a former hitman who dresses up in a dollar bill costume… but I’m not sure how that makes the news any less bizarre.
To be frank, judging from Harmony Korine’s oeuvre, this news shouldn’t be all that surprising. I mean this is the man whose previous film Trash Humpers focused on a bunch of sociopathic elderly people who got their kicks vandalizing homes and murdering folks. Such a synopsis would seem to be immediately appealing; but I’m sad to report the film itself is just a down right chore to sit through (as is much of Korine’s filmography). Marlon Wayans as a dollar bill will only be the second strangest role the actor/comedian has played, having previously starred as a little person impersonating a baby in the aptly titled modern masterpiece Little Man. (I’m only half joking about the masterpiece part.)
