Mondo’s late-October screening of Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs took place at Tarantino’s own New Beverly Cinema, and—by all accounts—it was a raucous, electrified crowd that greeted the film that night: with Mondo’s Justin Ishmael and Mo Shafeek in the house, a poster was bound to make an appearance sooner or later, and if the common assumption turned out to be true, then everyone in the room that night would be going home with a Tyler Stout Reservoir Dogs poster once the movie wrapped.
Since this all happened weeks ago, you surely already know that, yup, a Stout Reservoir Dogs poster did drop that night. And if you weren’t there, the odds are that you’ve been waiting for Mondo to release the remaining regular editions of the poster (and the now-confirmed “bloody” variant) ever since. Well, it can now be made official: your wait is over. Meet me after the jump to find out how you can snag one of Tyler Stout’s gorgeous Reservoir Dogs posters online tomorrow.
It’s appropriate that the variant edition of Tyler Stout’s Reservoir Dogs—a photo of which is below—would be covered in big, fat smears of blood (if the blood’s done in metallic-red inks, you can safely assume that this print will be orgasm-inducing in person), because my guess is that tomorrow’s drop is going to be a bloodbath, a good ol’-fashioned ass-whooping of a drop that will infuriate some, enrapture others, and confirm for all (for the umpteenth time) that Stout remains the biggest draw on the Mondo roster.
Here’s what you’ll be waging war for tomorrow:
- Reservoir Dogs by Tyler Stout
- Metallic Inks
- $60 regular edition of 700
- Reservoir Dogs by Tyler “T-Fresh” Stout
- Metallic Inks (and a whole lotta blood)
- $110 variant edition of 280
Holy Jesus and sweet baby Jesus and also awkward mid-puberty Jesus: that thing is glorious. Here’s another angle on it, just ‘cause Daddy loves you:
I was just trying to recall the last time we saw an all-out massacre of a drop, and of course the answer’s right in front of me: unless I’m forgetting something equally obvious, it was Mondo’s mid-summer release of Stout’s poster for The Avengers. On that day, 13,000 people descended upon Mondo’s website all at once. Obviously, that meant that only a fraction of them walked away with a purchase confirmation. How many Tarantino fans do ya think will be camping out on the Mondo homepage tomorrow? 10,000? Wouldn’t surprise me. Neither would 25,000 though. Maybe we can all just keep this quiet tonight, and hope that no more than 750 people show up. I’m calling dibs on a variant! And if anyone asks, just tell ‘em the poster got canceled because Stout got food poisoning. Or whatever. You’ll think of something.
Stay tuned, folks! We’re gonna try and find out what traffic looked like during the drop after it’s all said and done tomorrow (I’m super curious to see how this one stacks up against The Avengers). We’ve also got the results from our last giveaway to attend to, an even bigger look at Bottleneck Gallery’s The Gang’s All Here show, and—as always– whatever other coverage we can dig up for your reading pleasure. As always, if you’re an artist or gallery with artwork you’d like to see featured on Limited Paper (or if you’re just some lucky bastard who happened to overhear a bit of poster-related gossip while standing in the bushes outside Martin Ansin’s house) we wanna hear from you!
