According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Sony Pictures has set Shawn Levy to direct Uncharted, the long-awaited feature film based on the PlayStation video game. Joe Carnahan wrote the most recent draft of the script before he moved on to focus on Sony’s Bad Boys For Life. A release date for Uncharted has not been set.
According to The Wrap, it was a soaring budget plus two conflicting visions at the heart of Tim Miller’s exit from Deadpool 2. In the initial talks, Ryan Reynolds and his screenwriters envisioned a “scrappy” and raunchy, inexpensive movie in the vein of the first while director Miller wanted a stylish take that would compete with big-budget superhero movies, reportedly costing three times as much as the original $58 million film.

Casting on The Predator is currently underway in anticipation of an early 2017 production start-date. Collider’s Adam Chitwood was able to sit down and speak with director Shane Black during promotion of the book On Story, when the subject of his Predator movie and its tone came up. Black said that there has been a thriller aspect to the Predator films and wants to make it both scary and funny.
Last week director James Wan teased Aquaman as an action adventure movie with some Indiana Jones thrown in. Now, he’s talking more about the film’s two lead characters, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Amber Heard’s Mera. Speaking with Bustle, Wan said that at the start, the characters don't get along too well but as the movie goes on they begin to work together.
During an extensive interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, Platinum Dunes producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form gave some more details on why it’s been taking so long for us to see the next Friday the 13th movie. The producers said that the studios wanted a found-footage movie but this made them uncertain that style of filmmaking would work.
The first trailer for Man Down has been released starring Shia LaBeouf. The movie reunites LaBeouf with his A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints helmer Dito Montiel, who directs from a script by Adam G. Simon. The story finds LaBeouf as a U.S. Marine returning home from his tour in Afghanistan to a post-apocalyptic America. With the help of his best friend, played by Jai Courtney, he sets out to find his wife and child. The movie hits theatres on December 2nd.
Deadline reports that Aardman and Studiocanal are re-teaming for another woolly adventure with Shaun The Sheep Movie 2. The sequel to the 2015 animated comedy will be directed by Richard Starzak who collaborated on the first film, with pre-production due to begin in January.
