The first trailer for Underworld: Awakening has been released. The fourth film in the Underworld franchise features the return of Kate Beckinsale to the series as her character “escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.” If you liked the previous Underworld movies, it looks like you’ll be getting more of the same: blue filter, slow-mo fighting, Kate Beckinsale in a skin-tight black leather outfit. I don’t much care for these movies and they only cause me to wonder if the director knows that the blue filter adds nothing to the movie.

While no one except them knows whether or not they have been trying, it is strange that after seven years of marriage, Kate Beckinsale still hasn’t had any children with Len Wiseman. He has selflessly helped raise her daughter for all this time and she seems solely focused on her career.

So all of a sudden humans have the tech and means to hunt , capture and hold Lycans and Vampires effectively after being next to useless for , well EVER and the master plan is to create a “super” Lycans to finish the job ??? Wait , what !
Yup nothing could go wrong with that plan at all. So by the end of this movie we will have a Super Lycan/Vamp Hybrid baby that is stronger than the strongest, as you can just tell the writing for this is top notch and full of awesome twists ! Sigh …

Maybe I am missing something, but she wasnt a vampire anymore at the end of Underworld: Evolution…. You clearly see her standing in the sun light for the first time since she became a vampire.
Sooooo…did she get turned again? Or are they acting like Evolution didnt happen?
I think it’s a bit more complicated than that. Alexander was an immortal. She is clearly more advanced now than she was. Look at that sequence in the hallway.
Well I went back and listened to the epilogue she gave at the end, still talks about the clans and stuff, so maybe you are right. Guess it was more of a plot point that was left undefined in case of another movie.
In the second one selina took the blood of Alexander who was the human immortal, but this combined with her own blood to enhance her (sort be like blade a daywalker)
So now she has the strength to continue the fight
At the end of the 2nd she got the human immortal blood so she had enhanced abulitys (all the same abulitys and immunetys with some new ones to)
Gonna be a horrible movie, but I’d never miss a chance to see Kate Beckinsale in a skin-tight outfit.
The first two were enjoyable, to a certain degree, but the third one was terrible, IMO, despite Michael Sheen’s commanding performance. I’m not sure what to make of this 4th film. I’m going to sit it out and wait. If buzz from critics and audiences turns out to be positive, then I’ll shell some cash to see it in theatres. If not, I’ll just wait for the DVD, in order to rent it.
Thank god sheen isn’t in this with his cheesy over acting. The first two installments were definitely better than the third one. I wouldn’t wait for critics to like it I don’t think they liked any of them.
KB is always fantastic as Selene so that’s enough to get me into the theater also I want to see where they’re taking this story.
A couple things are worth being said, while I’m not a fan of these movies, at teh least I don’t hate them, and I kind of have a pulpy sense of fun with the second one.
That being said, if this is a human’s are assholes story, I’m will be so fucking bored. Not to mention the nerd side of my brain will be upset that the moral crux of the story would lay in the fact that the food supply for two monster-esk species decided to take advantage of their predaotrs respective weaknesses… yuck.
Anyway, its also worth mentioning as bloated and convoluted this cannon has gotten, I will be expecting them to hold onto it. There’s nothing worse then a series retconing its own mythology just to hit the reset butto, see Resident Evil to get what I mean.
Ah well, this would have to be attrociously bad for me not to keep an eye on it or sit tight for a VOD or Torrent.
Where are the supporting characters? Hope those boring human detectives aren’t the only thing in the film. The supporting characters are important in the Underworld series.
I have liked all the underworld movies and am not going to miss seeing this 1 in theaters

Did she have a Child? Did they use her DNA and Michael’s DNA to make a monster beyond control? So many questions and soo little to ponder.. in the end it reminds me of an RPG – Break Free, Kill them All, Look for your Lover, and Slay the Monster.. Simple
