I was a little skeptical of Unfriended (formerly titled Cybernatural) back when I first heard Timur Bekmambetov was working on a horror movie that takes place entirely on a computer, but based on the film’s first trailer, it looks as though director Levan Gabriadze might have pulled it off and now it’s one of my most anticipated films of SXSW. The movie’s due to celebrate its US premiere at the festival on Friday, March 13th at 5:30pm and then after that, Universal is throwing an after party at 10pm.

Any interest in attending? Universal is letting us bring five readers (each with a guest) to the party! All you’ve got to do is click here and fill out the form. Be sure to put “COLLIDER” in the company/organization field and then Universal will pick five winners at random. Please be aware, you must be in the Austin area to enter.

If you’re in Austin and happen to snag a ticket to the party, I’ll see you there, but if you aren’t in town for the event, keep an eye out for my review and interviews with the filmmakers. After screening at SXSW, Unfriended will get a nationwide release on April 17th. Check out the film’s trailer and SXSW screening information below.

Here's the list of Unfriended SXSW screenings:

1) Friday, March 13th

5:30pm // Alamo South Lamar

2) Saturday, March 14th

3) Friday, March 20th

And here’s the official synopsis of the film:

Ushering in a new era of horror, Universal Pictures’ Unfriended unfolds over a teenager’s computer screen as she and her friends are stalked by an unseen figure who seeks vengeance for a shaming video that led a vicious bully to kill herself a year earlier.
