Universal has begun development on an action film based on the recruitment and training of Secret Service agents. Deadline reports that the studio has tapped Greg Poirier (National Treasure: Book of Secrets) to write the screenplay, based on a cover story in the Washington Post Magazine written by Laura Blumenefeld. The journalist actually went through Secret Service training and spent time in the 16-week intensive training program that includes weapons training, hand-to-hand combat and psychological methods. The film will apparently follow a group of aspiring applicants through the training program, after which one of them will probably turn out to be a mole, because that’s what always happens.
