..anyone tired of this gimmick yet?

The 3D gimmick? I'm just wondering why people think its so awesome and surprising when a film gets put into 3D, after Avatar I wouldn't be surprised if they started announcing TV series being aired in 3D.

I think half of these new 3D movies are going to be huge failures and probably look like crap, but who knows, I could be wrong.

who are these people that think it is “awesome and surprising”? It is more shocking now when a major blockbuster film ISN'T given the 3D treatment. I think studios don't understand the draw of 3D. It's different. If even big film is in the format, it becomes commonplace.

It just seems like every day I'm hearing about some movie that's now getting the 3D treatment or being shot in 3D like its a big deal, when it isn't. It is just a bunch of scrubs jumping on the bandwagon after the success of Avatar, which is funny, because I don't think that 3D is going to push visuals that far forward that their crappy films won't still suck and not draw in crowds. Not suggesting that all these films suck, but that putting a movie in 3D isn't enough to make it special or interesting (even if nobody else had done it yet), Avatar was not only amazing in 3D but it also had amazing visuals without the 3D and a pretty decent storyline considering most sci-fi that has been coming out lately has been pretty weak on story.

is there a movie that will not be released in 3-d this days? hahaha, i just hope that the reboot will be good and i hope that levitt will be parker and not that pattinson or efron guy, they suck

We agree then. This isn't big news. However, it IS news. So, we cover it.

I mean, it DOES make a difference, after all. Some people will WANT to see it in 3D, even if it isn't a “game changer.”

I know, I'm just making fun of journalists tendency to blow things out of proportion. Classic examples include Iran reiterating for the 1 millionth time that they are working towards nuclear functions, or any kind of common cold or flu that is given a name (Swine Flu, Bird Flu, Butt Flu, w/e).

I guess we will get to find out if 3D even looks good in regular genre films that aren't full of sci-fi settings. I mean, a school in 3D might look a little goofy.
