A French trailer has gone online for the sci-fi romantic-thriller Upside Down starring Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst.  We showed you some images from the movie last month, but they were mostly right side-up and didn’t convey the dizzying and impressive visuals.  The trailer gives a better look at the gorgeous set design  and I love the use of the upside down effect.  However, the story seems a little rote.  The characters live in two worlds that are connected but on top of each other and each with its own gravitation pull.  No one from one world can cross over to the other or even communicate with someone on the other side, but Sturgess and Dunst’s characters fall in love and break the rule.  I hope the plot is a little more than just a love story across borders where the only twist is having the border be on an unconventional axis.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  No U.S. release date has been announced.

  1. Wow. My only issue is whether or not the story can hold up to the visuals. Here’s to hoping it doesn’t degrade into a lame chase film. And if it does? At least it’ll make for a good film playing in the background at Best Buy.

    Pliskin, out.

  2. First trailer I saw this new year and it pretty much gave away 3/4 of the movie.

That aside, the the mountain scenes are incredible…very Paris-like from Inception.
