All day long we’ve been seeing the same question popping up all over the place:  “Is Mondo announcing a drop today?”  A fair question for a Wednesday afternoon, to be sure, and now it looks like all that idle chatter was justified:  not only has Mondo just announced a brand-new V For Vendetta poster from artist Cesar Moreno (and lemme tell ya, it’s a doozy), but they’ve also made a surprise VHS-related announcement concerning Beyond The Black Rainbow.  Would you like to know more?  Find out everything we know after the jump, Princess.

Alright, folks,  we’re gonna skip the shenanigans and do this just-the-facts-style (‘cause the people are gonna wanna know about this sooner rather than later).  Everyone ready?  Good, let’s get started.  Here’s the print Mondo’s dropping tomorrow:

  • V For Vendetta by Cesar Moreno
  • 24x36”
  • $35 regular edition of 300

Whoa.  Impressive.  Really impressive, as a matter of fact.  Ten bucks says this one’s a stunner in person.  And what a pleasant surprise this is, seeing Mondo going with a relative unknown for a property this big…and doing so this early in the year.  I’ll go ahead and admit that I’m not terribly familiar with Moreno’s stuff, but you can bet your candy-ass that I’ll be looking into his body of work after seeing this.  Helluva way to make an entrance, sir (by the way, Mondo’s got some crazy detail shots of this print over at their blog, and they’re absolutely worth checking out).

But, wait!  That’s not all!  Here’s the other half of the press release:

We are also releasing another VHS tape under our Mondo Video label. We will have Panos Cosmatos' brilliant BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW with brand new packaging designed by Jay Shaw…you can read more about the release over on our blog.

You may recall that Beyond The Black Rainbow—probably one of the trippiest films I’ve seen in the past few years, and well worth seeking out if you’re into “weird”—got a print back during Fantastic Fest 2012, also designed by Jay Shaw.  It’d almost be a toss-up as to which design I prefer, except for the fact that this version comes wrapped around a VHS copy of the film.  Speaking as someone who still has two operational VCRs in his household, that’s pretty awesome.  Here’s what the box looks like:

Both of these are going to hit the Mondo store sometime tomorrow morning/afternoon, and you’ll want to keep an eye on the official Mondo Twitter feed to find out when they go up.  Good luck to everyone who’s chasing after these tomorrow, especially anyone who lands one of those V For Vendetta prints:  I can’t stop gawking at that damn thing.  In fact, I think I may be hypnotized.

Stay tuned, folks:  we’ve got a third giveaway headed your way in the near future, and it’s awesome.  In the meantime: if you’re an artist or gallery with artwork you’d like to see featured on Limited Paper (or if you’re just some lucky bastard who happened to overhear a bit of poster-related gossip while standing in the bushes outside Martin Ansin’s house) we wanna hear from you!  Email Limited Paper directly at LimitedPaper@gmail.com, and be sure that you’re following us on Twitter via @LimitedPaper for ongoing commentary, news updates, giveaways, and more!
