New Line has released a new red-band trailer for Vacation, the upcoming comedy sequel from writers/directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Horrible Bosses). The film finds Ed Helms playing a grown-up version of Rusty Griswold who opts to take his own family on a trip to Walley World, echoing the premise at the center of the original Vacation. This new NSFW trailer focuses on the Griswolds themselves as opposed to highlighting the film’s many cameos (Chris Hemsworth looks really funny), and it’s certainly dirty. I’m just not sure if it’s “funny” dirty. The opening gag is a little odd and some of the other humor bits don’t land as hard as ones highlighted in the film’s first trailer, but the relationship between Rusty’s two young sons is quite funny.

It’s unclear if this new Vacation will stand apart from the other films as a solid comedy all its own, or if it’ll be an unsuccessful reboot of a long-dormant franchise, but I definitely like the idea of crafting a sequel rather than trying to remake the first film. Here’s hoping.

The new Vacation opens on July 29th and also stars Christina Applegate, Leslie Mann, Nick Kroll, Charlie Day, Kaitlin Olson, and Regina Hall.

Here’s the official synopsis for Vacation:

The next generation of Griswolds is at it again.  New Line Cinema’s “Vacation,” starring Ed Helms (“The Hangover” films) and Christina Applegate (the “Anchorman” films), takes the family on the road for another ill-fated adventure.  The film marks Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley’s directorial debut.
