Earlier today the first image from A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas 3D was released, and now the first trailer for the fllm has hit the web. It’s pretty much everything you’d expect from a Harold & Kumar movie, but with Christmas. The story finds the duo trying to replace Harold’s father-in-law’s Christmas tree by day’s end, but you can probably surmise that all doesn’t go according to plan. While I didn’t find the second entry in the franchise as amusing as the first, hopefully the holiday setting of this one will punch things up. They look to be having fun with (and poking fun at) the 3D, and it appears that we’re in for a sure-to-be-great musical number. Speaking of awesome, Neil Patrick Harris looks to have a bit of an expanded role in the flick, which is very good news.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The movie stars Harris, John Cho, Kal Penn, Paula Garcés, Danneel Harris, Bobby Lee, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Danny Trejo, Amir Blumenfeld, David Burtka, Fred Melamed, and Richard Riehle. A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas 3D opens November 4th.

Here’s the trailer (via Yahoo! Movies):

Here’s the official synopsis:

After years of growing apart, Harold Lee and Kumar Patel have replaced each other with new friends and are preparing for their respective Yuletide celebrations. But when a mysterious package mistakenly arrives at Kumar’s door on Christmas Eve, his attempt to redirect it to Harold’s house ends with the “high grade” contents — and Harold’s father-in-law’s prize Christmas tree — going up in smoke. With his in-laws out of the house for the day, Harold decides to cover his tracks, rather than come clean. Reluctantly embarking on another ill-advised journey with Kumar through New York City, their search for the perfect replacement tree takes them through party heaven — and almost blows Christmas Eve sky high.

  1. That trailer was not really all that funny. I like how they poke fun at 3D but they were trying too hard with all that CGI, especially the ping pong.

  2. The first two stayed semi-grounded in reality. This one looks different with Santa and everything. Who knows, maybe theyre blazed out of their minds during those scenes and it’s just hallucinations. Idk I think it looks pretty funny. 3D is stupid though. (Yay for Amir getting some higher profile work)

    • I don’t think that was actually Santa but just some bum who was dressed like him. Only part that was way out there was the claymation but that’s when they’re blazed out of their minds.

    • The first to were grounded in reality? Are you out of your own fucking mind? They rode a cheetah and hang glided to a white castle after meeting a straight NPH on X and escaping from a prison. They crash into Dubya’s Ranch House after being targeted as terrorists and escaping from Guantanamo Bay? There is no reality here, just good old fashioned stoner fun

  3. I don’t know what it is, but NPH really doesn’t look very good in this trailor. He looks a lot older than he normally does too. And this was before he had the kids!

  4. It’s when this conversation is lead in theater: Who’s NPH? You know, the guy from How to Meet your MOther and tHe SMurfs? – it’s time to retire the NPH jokes.

  5. That trailer looks pretty hilarious, I like all the meta stuff with the 3D and the ridiculousness of their previous movies, specifically with how it relates to NPH.

Also, @ Marie – in the Harold & Kumar movies, NPH is a massive drunk, drug-addicted mess who sleeps maybe 5 hours a week. So understandably, they have to make him look…weathered.

  6. The trailer looked great and that’s what made me want to view this third installment. I just watched it and I thought it was ok but it wasn’t what I expected. I had hoped for more and that it would have been the best of the three. The second is my favorite still and I hope that if another is in the works it will be better. I watch all my movies using my DISH online feature. I can get access to thousands of movies, TV shows or my DVR recordings. This is great having another choice to see other movies that are not being shown on TV. This is an awesome feature that comes from DISH and requires nothing more. A great way for me to add more value to TV and enhance my employee service from DISH.
