vice-trailer-slice

The first trailer for Brian A. Miller’s Vice just arrived and there is a lot going on in it.  The film stars Bruce Willis as Julian Michaels, the designer behind a resort called Vice, a place with no laws, no rules and no consequences because the folks inside are not real people.  They’re artificial inhabitants.  Similar to The Purge, Vice brings up the idea of giving clients the opportunity to get the violence out of their systems, but right around the one-minute mark, the film’s trailer switches gears and puts the focus on one particular robot (Ambyr Childers) who becomes self-aware and escapes, threatening to destroy Julian’s business.

There’s definitely something entertaining about it, but the trailer also feels like a sloppy mashup of high-concept scenarios that have worked in the past.  Hit the jump to give the Vice trailer a watch for yourself.  Vice hits theaters and On Demand on January 16th and also stars Thomas Jane, Johnathon Schaech, Bryan Greenberg, Charlotte Kirk and Tyler J. Olson.

Here’s the official synopsis for Vice:

Julian Michaels (Bruce Willis) has designed the ultimate resort: VICE, where anything goes and the customers can play out their wildest fantasies with artificial inhabitants who look, think and feel like humans.  When an artificial (Ambyr Childers) becomes self-aware and escapes, she finds herself caught in the crossfire between Julian's mercenaries and a cop (Thomas Jane) who is hell-bent on shutting down Vice, and stopping the violence once and for all.
