Later this fall, Xbox Live will be releasing "Xbox Original Content" which will feature eight original horror-comedies.  This morning we had a lovely breakfast and spoke with the minds behind the project.  I was originally skeptical of the concept and then they said the magic word, "FREE".  Pricing could be tricky with something like this, but for what you're getting, zero Microsoft Points is a steal.  The sizzle reel featured some very entertaining stuff but at only five-to-seven minutes for each film, I'm a little confused about why they didn't just show us one full short film.  Nevertheless, I don't know why you wouldn't take five minutes to watch a film from someone like James Gunn or Lucky McGee when it costs you nothing.

The projects are all built as stand-alones but if the short films are successful, then there's definitely room for episodic content.  The only thing that was confusing is that the folks behind this said they wanted to give filmmakers the freedom they wouldn't have in Hollywood by doing these films low-budget and through this unique distribution channel…except all the films are rated.  If they have to go through the MPAA, then how much difference can there really be?  Then again, the MPAA obviously couldn't give two shits about violence so unless James Wan wanted to create a film featuring hardcore fucking, I don't think it will be too big of an impediment to their content.

Xbox 360 owners can hear this spiel straight from the creators by checking out "Bringing It Home" on Xbox Live.
