New RIDDICK Image Features Vin Diesel Playing the Game of Thrones

     February 22, 2013

Ever rewarding his fans, Vin Diesel (The Fast and the Furious) has debuted yet another image from his upcoming film Riddick.  It looks like Riddick may thrown in his lot for the rule of Westeros, because that seat looks every bit as uncomfortable as the Iron Throne.  The third installment from director David Twohy features the return of the titular anti-hero, who must fight for his survival against deadly alien predators and bounty hunters with a personal stake in bringing him down.  Riddick, also starring Karl Urban, debuts on September 6th.  Hit the jump to check out the full image, along with what Diesel had to say about it.

Diesel posted this caption with the image:

September 6th 2013!

It has been 9 years since the Chronicles of Riddick was released… all along I knew I would eventually have to return to that dark place, the mind of an Alpha Furyan…

Here’s the synopsis for Riddick:

The latest chapter of the groundbreaking saga that began with 2000′s hit sci-fi film Pitch Black and 2004′s The Chronicles of Riddick reunites writer/director David Twohy (A Perfect Getaway, The Fugitive) and star Vin Diesel (the Fast and Furious franchise, xXx). Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy.

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

That’s exactly what I thought! Not happy about Vin Diesel stealing that image!

I love that any character sitting on a throne is now a Conan rip-off. I recall the same things being written of the Ned Stark promo piece before GOT S1 premiered. Lemme ask ya, internet– exactly how many cool poses are there for a dude on a f**king throne? Would you prefer jazz hands? Sheesh.

Long time comin’ for this one– I’m stoked! Bring it, Twohy!

It IS a Conan rip-off, but not the one that everyone thinks it is. I am pretty sure it is Conan O’Brien’s chair when he hosted The Tonight Show. When you play the Game of Thrones, you either live or you die.

That, is the greatest toilet I have ever seen!!!! But i bet he takes ages trying to figure out which one of those spikey things is the flush.

    I must have one!

Which Conan? Did it also happen in the 2011-Conan?…

I’m just annoyed at this shot cause the end of the original movie promised an awesome sequel, and now they’re still making “King Conan”, a direct sequel to the first, in the near future.

The 2011′s Conan is no Conan for me. I erased it from my memory.
It was as dull as the Total recall remake.
And to answer your question: No. There was no throne in the 2011′s Conan

        Good. :)
