While he may have grown up near Chicago, Vince Vaughn may be planning a trip that would take him southwest of home to St. Louis. Deadline is reporting that both Vaughn and director David O. Russell (I Heart Huckabees) are likely to team up in the Russell-scribed film Old St. Louis. Per the report, the film revolves around “the story of a traveling salesman (Vaughn) who has been an absentee father, and how his life changes when his daughter becomes part of his life.” Silly kids, always ruining everything…
Vaughn is pulling double duty as actor/producer (along with his sister Victoria, via their Universal-based Wild West Picture Show Productions). Early reports are that Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass) has been mentioned as a potential candidate for the role of Vaughn’s daughter who shows up and is a total buzz-kill to Vaughn’s storybook traveling salesman gig. While Vaughn is currently filming the Ron Howard-directed comedy What You Don’t Know, it is believed that Russell would like for Old St. Louis to be his follow-up to The Fighter (which Mark Wahlberg calls “the best film he’s been in”) starring Wahlberg, Christian Bale, and Amy Adams.
