About a year since the news that Robert Downey Jr. would be starring in Universal Pictures' The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, and just about a year out from the film's release, we now know just who will be starring alongside RDJ. It's a stellar cast, though Downey Jr. appears to have the only human role with every other major name playing members of the gifted doctor's animal menagerie. Oscar-winner Stephan Gaghan (Trafffic) wrote the script and screenplay following work by Thomas Shepherd, all based on the original creation of the character back in 1920 by Hugh Lofting. Gaghan will also be directing the picture.

For the graphically challenged, here's the rest of the cast in full: Emma Thompson as the parrot Polynesia, Craig Robinson as the mouse Fleming, Rami Malek as Chee-Chee the gorilla, Carmen Ejogo as the lioness Regine, Octavia Spencer as the duck Dab-Dab, Tom Holland as Jip the dog, Ralph Fiennes as the tiger Barry, Marion Cotillard as Tutu the fox, Kumail Nanjiani as Plimpton the ostrich, Frances de la Tour as Ginko-Who-Soars, John Cena as Yoshi the polar bear, and Selena Gomez as Betsy, a giraffe. The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle is currently slated for an April 12, 2019 release date.

Be sure to let us know your thoughts on this incredible cast! RDJ and pal Holland have a busy year or so ahead of them what with the MCU's biggest films to date arriving about a year apart. Gaghan, meanwhile, will next turn to the Tom Clancy video game adaptation The Division, which has Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain set to star. Now you can add The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle to your movie-going calendar!
