It’s been almost a year since we reported that the Wachowski siblings and J. Michael Straczynski’s series, Sense8, would be coming to Netflix.  Now, in advance of the series’ planned production start in June, we’ve got a bit more on the plot of the sci-fi drama that will shoot all over the world.  Shooting locations include the UK, Seoul, Mumbai, Nairobi, Berlin, Mexico City, San Francisco and Chicago, which will make more sense once you know a bit more about who the major players are.  Hit the jump to find out more.

Sense8 will focus on eight people scattered around the globe who are connected by a shared violent vision.  Each episode will follow the characters’ separate stories, with one entity attempting to unite them while another tries to kill them.

Here’s a look at the cast of characters: “a closeted Mexican telenovela hunk, an Icelandic party girl, a German safe-cracker, a Korean businesswoman, an African bus driver and a transgender American blogger. Perhaps most intriguing, though, are Jonas, an apparently magic African-American who appears to all of the “visionaries,” and his evil counterpart, Mr. Whispers.”

Sense8 will start production this June, so expect some casting announcements over the coming months.

Looking forward to it. I appreciate the Wachowskis storytelling sensibilities. BTW, Speed Racer is under appreciated and Bound is amazing.

Bound is ridiculously overlooked, it might even be a better movie than The Matrix.

    ” Jonas, an apparently magic African-American ”

Ah, the ol’ magical negro stereotype. (google it)
