Last night I had the pleasure of attending the first ever TV premiere at Madison Square Garden. AMC went big at New York Comic-Con and opted to screen The Walking Dead Season 6 premiere episode for an enormous crowd and then host a Q&A with just about every single main cast member including Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride and many, many more.
Despite having mixed feelings about the format of the Season 6 opener, it was still quite the treat to get the opportunity to watch the episode with a massive and very passionate crowd of fans. Hopefully AMC decides to hold similar events in the future because The Walking Dead makes for one heck of a communal viewing experience.
After the episode wrapped up, Yvette Nicole Brown took the stage to moderate the Q&A. There was little to no concrete information on what’s to come in Season 6, it was more of a Walking Dead love fest, but the crowd ate up every single moment of it. You can check out a couple of pictures I took at the event below as well as four videos clips – one featuring cast baby pictures, one of them playing “Walking Dead Family Face Off,” another of Jon Bernthal‘s appearance and lastly, one of Ross Marquand showing off his impression skills.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on Sunday, October 11th at 9pm. In case you missed it, click here for Chris’ review and here for a video recap of everything you need to know about Season 5 before jumping into Season 6.
