Who's ready for Halloween? Yes, it's still summer but August is right around the corner so those Halloween pop-up stores are bound to start opening up soon enough. On top of that, the folks at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort are gearing up for Halloween Horror Night, a special annual event that runs on select nights from September 18th through November 1st during which the parks are filled with monsters, haunted houses, live shows and more.

It was just announced that The Walking Dead will return with a new maze that features recreations from the show and challenges you to "evade the terror of the undead and the inhumane brutality of mankind." Here's the official description of the maze's storyline:

"Guests will begin their journey at the Terminus safe-haven compound, where an unspeakable hunger has consumed the demented souls of those dwelling within. As the chaos ensues, guests will encounter even greater atrocities as they stumble upon dismembered 'W' walkers, witness the horror of victims besieged by the living dead, and step onto the loading dock of the Del Arno Food warehouse to face hordes of 'W' walkers."

Here's what Walking Dead executive producer and special effects makeup supervisor Greg Nicotero had to say about bringing the show back to Halloween Horror Nights:

"Halloween Horror Nights’ is the gold standard to which all other Halloween-themed events try to emulate, so to bring authentic walkers to this event, alongside other horror greats, is the ultimate thrill."

The Walking Dead maze at Universal Orlando will feature some never-before-used scare tactics in order to put you right in the middle of the flooded food bank scene and the West Coast edition, "The Walking Dead: Wolves Not Far," will be the longest maze ever constructed at Universal Studios Hollywood.

In addition to The Walking Dead, Universal also announced mazes for the Insidious film franchise, a maze for Freddy vs. Jason and one for Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak as well. You can check out the announcement videos for the InsidiousCrimson Peak and Walking Dead mazes below:
