Warner Bros. Hitting Reset Button on MORTAL KOMBAT Movies; New Writer Hired

Bloody-Disgusting reports that Warner Bros. is inserting a fistful of quarters into a reboot of the Mortal Kombat movies.  The first movie adaptation of the controversial (at the time) video game came out in 1995 and holds the distinction of being one of the less-bad video game adaptation to date.  Then Mortal Kombat: Annihilation came out two years later and was the kind of terrible we expect from video game movies.

Thirteen years later, Warner Bros. is going retro and giving the almost twenty-year-old franchise another chance with Oren Uziel handling the script.  Uziel’s Shimmer Lake made the 2009 Black List (the list of the best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood).  Hopefully Warners will give him free-reign to make a movie that acknowledges the reason the MK series caught on in the first place was the level of violence never seen in video games up to that point.  I don’t really care about the “Outworld” or any of that crap.  I expect to see a character rip off someone’s head with the spinal cord still attached.  The movie doesn’t need stars.  It doesn’t need cutting-edge special effects.  It needs spinal cords.

And remember: ABACABB.

This is great news, the first MK was awesome and proved that video game movies can be made well (if done right). Lets hope they don't screw this one up, I'm looking forward to some pretty decent story with a little adventure and a lot of action, similar to the first but even better would be great.

Yeah I heard that they were doing a Reboot months if not more than a year ago.

I don't know anything about the video game but based on what I know about the movie i think that Neveldine and Taylor would be a good fit to do the movie.

This movie is being rushed badly and they are getting someone who has never directed a feature film in his life. This movie is supposedly set in manhattan and hence i declare this will flop miserably.

Ya i played mk growing up and am pretty good looking especially with shades on. So if you guys need someone to play johnny cage im your man. I have been practicing my round house kicks, splits (to perform the nut cracker), and can perform his infamous fatality by means of a uppercut. I have done this fatality a few times on fellow students in my dojo. I can be reached via email at getthefuckouttahere.com or shutthefuckupyoustupidmofo.com. Quick note I think Timleacock would be great since i have already seen some of his work in the beginning of the Dark Knight playing one of the Batman impostors.
