Here’s the official synopsis:

After a spaceship splashes down in Gotham City Harbor, Batman and Superman encounter a mysterious Kryptonian with powers as great as those of the Man of Steel. The Kryptonian is soon revealed to be Kara, cousin of Superman, who takes her under his wing to educate her about the ways of Earth. However, the villainous Darkseid has other plans. Seeing an opportunity to finally defeat Superman, Darkseid abducts and gains control of Kara, utilizing the powerful Kryptonian to do his bidding. It’s up to Batman and Superman to save Kara, but they’ll have to take the fight to Darkseid within his hostile world – where unknown, deadly threats lurk around every corner, including a brainwashed Kryptonian able to match Superman blow-for-blow.

“Great things happen when powerful entities come together, and the partnership of Warner Premiere, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation is proud to continue this popular film series by once again uniting the two most popular characters in the DC Universe in a story that truly tests their strength, trust, loyalty, ingenuity and heroism,” said Matt Bierman, Senior Vice President Production, Warner Premiere.

“It is a testament to the larger-than-life nature of Jeph Loeb’s blockbuster storylines that two of the first nine DC Universe movies are based on his work,” said Geoff Johns, Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment. “Superman/Batman: Apocalypse lets us see Superman and Batman in action side-by-side again, but this time along with Supergirl and one of DC’s greatest villains, Darkseid.”

“Just as Superman and Batman stand atop the DC canon of characters, so do the respective seminal voices of Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy in the hearts and minds of fans. Superman/Batman: Apocalypse will no doubt please comic-centric and mainstream audiences alike – particularly in the performances of Daly and Conroy opposite dynamic actors like Andre Braugher and Ed Asner, and fanboy favorite Summer Glau,” said Amit Desai, WHV Vice President of Family, Animation & Partner Brands.

2 DC animated movies only within 2 months of each other. Can't wait.

Holy Crap. Just watched Crisis on 2 Worlds, and was totally blown away.

Bruce Timm is killing Marvel's attempts at catching up w/ him, single handedly.

It's almost as if he is actually Superman (or Batman, if he's even a mortal.)

Wow. Another direct to DVD movie that fast? I haven't even got over waiting for red hood and this suddenly follows up?! I'm not complaining though:D

What's the deal with the special features? It's bad enough that they have been withholding some of the featurettes from the 2 disk DVDs in order to push the Blu Rays.I mean the Under The Red hood 2 Disk DVD only gets the Dick Grayson featurette while the Blu Ray is getting that and a Jason Todd featurette. But with Superman/Batman:Apocalypse they take it even farther. The Blu Ray gets the brand new New Gods featurettes while all the 2 disk DVD gets is the old Supergirl featurette from the Smallville Season 6 DVDs that came out three years ago.So not only do they withhold featurettes from the DVD for the Blu Ray but the only featurette they do give DVD owners is old scraps that I already have from the Smallville Season 6 release. Why bother even doing a two disk DVD set then? The only worthwhile bonus you get is the Green Arrow Showcase short.Everything else is recycled stuff that has been advailable on other releases. The Smallville season 6 Supergirl feature and two old episodes of the Timmverse animates shows while the Blu Ray gets three brand new featurettes on The New Gods,Orion and Mister Miracle. They could of just as easily put the Green Arrow short on the one-disk release instead of forcing DVD owners to buy recycled stuff on the two disk release just to get the lone 10 minute Green Arrow short.I know DVD owners are being fleeced now due to the studios trying to push people into buying Blu Ray but come on,this is taking the fleecing to a whole new level. The WB could of given the 2 disk DVD atleast one out of the three new featurettes and not just a old recycled featurette from a previous release.

It’s actually pretty good. The last ten minutes alone are absolutely epic. That said, the animation is a little sloppy compared to other DC animated dvd releases. Superman looks like he’s wearing mascara, which is a little distracting. But like I said the last fight scene is incredible, worth watching the whole thing, and it was interesting to hear Krypton-ese spoken. Nox Edge

I have to agree the final 10 minutes is epic but I think the animation is pretty good. It’s also like the fact that Supergirl gets some LOVE.
