WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS Featurette: Max Joseph Threw a Real Concert for the Film

     July 31, 2015

With We Are Your Friends just a little less than a month away from its big debut, Warner Bros. just unveiled a brand new featurette detailing how writer-director Max Joseph made the film’s block party/music festival scene happen. I find it a little strange that the piece features video commentary from Joseph as though he was shooting an episode of Catfish, but it is pretty neat that they actually threw a real concert in order to shoot the scene. Not a bad way to spend a day working as a movie extra, huh?

Check out the new We Are Your Friends featurette for yourself below. The film is due in theaters on August 28th and also stars Wes BentleyEmily Ratajkowski, Jonny Weston, Shiloh Fernandez and Jon Bernthal.

Here is the official synopsis for We Are Your Friends:

“We Are Your Friends” is about what it takes to find your voice. Set in the world of electronic music and Hollywood nightlife, an aspiring 23-year-old DJ named Cole (Efron) spends his days scheming with his childhood friends and his nights working on the one track that will set the world on fire. All of this changes when he meets a charismatic but damaged older DJ named James (Bentley), who takes him under his wing. Things get complicated, however, when Cole starts falling for James’ much younger girlfriend, Sophie (Ratajkowski). With Cole’s forbidden relationship intensifying and his friendships unraveling, he must choose between love, loyalty, and the future he is destined for.
