The Wednesday TV ratings for October 21st are in; here are some of the highlights:

  • In the 9 p.m. slot, Empire reigned supreme yet again for Wednesday night, stopping a three-week-long decline in Fox's wild melodrama's ratings. The series grabbed a 4.8 in the key demos, up two tenths from last week, with some 12.1 million viewers. Mind you, Empire has remained Wednesday night's main attraction, even with the drop in ratings since the Season 2 premiere.
  • ABC's The Middle won over the 8 p.m. slot in terms of scripted programs, with 1.9 in the demo and a little over 7 million viewers. Meanwhile, Survivor won the slot overall with 2.1 and a bit over 9 million viewers on CBS, while Arrow stayed steady on The CW with 0.9 and some 2.3 million viewers.
  • Also in the 8 p.m. slot, Rosewood saw slight gains on Fox with 1.5 and 5.2 million viewers, while Mysteries of Laura remained even with last week with 1.1 and approximately 6.6 million viewers. And in the 8:30 p.m. slot, The Goldbergs improved slightly to a 2.1 on ABC, with some 6.4 million viewers.

Meanwhile, Law & Order: SVU took 1.5 in the key demos and some 6.3 million viewers on NBC.
  • Finally, in the 10 p.m. slot, NBC's Chicago PD also saw a series low with 1.4 in the demo with 6.3 million viewers. On CBS, Code Black remained steady from last week with 1.2 and 7.1 million viewers, while Nashville saw a slight drop to 1.1 with 4.5 million viewers in total on ABC.
