In its 38 years of marketing and merchandising, the Star Wars franchises has brought some of the big screen’s greatest characters and moments to life in the form of toys, action figures, and vehicles. What kid wouldn’t want to dress as Luke Skywalker for Halloween, brandishing a light-up lightsaber to battle against the evil Empire? What collector wouldn’t want to scour yard sales for highly sought-after, valuable Star Wars toys? But the law of averages states that if some of these toys are exemplary, and most are acceptable, then there must be a fair representation of some weird, unusual, and downright strange toys that no one in their right mind would ever want to buy.
Since we’re talking about the rabid Star Wars fandom however, “right mind” is a relative term since the weirder these toys are, the more interesting they seem to be to collectors. Sure, some of it’s just junk that someone, somewhere thought would make a quick sale … and they were probably right. I mean, this is the toyline that once sold people an empty cardboard box with the promise that their display-worthy action figures would show up eventually. “Weird” is in the eye of the beholder, so with that in mind, take a look at some of the weirdest Star Wars toys ever.
