Earlier today we told you that Elizabeth Banks was in talks to star in screenwriter Alex Kurtzman’s directorial debut Welcome to People. Now, DreamWorks confirms to us that Banks has officially joined Chris Pine in the cast. Kurtzman directs from a script by himself, Roberto Orci, and Jody Lambert (Of All The Things). Kurtzman and Orci are, of course, the screenwriting duo behind Star Trek and Transformers. Per DreamWorks, the planned PG-13 film is “a drama about a young businessman (Pine) who returns home after his estranged father’s sudden death, only to uncover a devastating family secret, which sends him on an unexpected journey of self-discovery.”  Producers are also holding an open casting call for an 11-13 year old male named Josh who is “athletic, independent, and confident.”  Hit the jump to check out the full press release which includes where to go for the open casting call.

Here's the press release.  You can also watch Pine talk to Steve about the movie here.
