Westworld is kicking ass and taking names on HBO, garnering the network’s biggest debut since True Detective and tantalizing fans with an early release of episode 2. So, what’s next for the hosts and guests of this sci-fi Western world? Take a peek in newly released photos of episode 3, which was directed by Game of Thrones standout Neil Marshall (of “Blackwater” fame) from a script by Daniel T. Thomsen & Lisa Joy.

Here’s what we know about the episode, titled “The Stray”, from the official synopsis:

Elsie (Shannon Woodward) and Stubbs (Luke Hemsworth) head into the hills in pursuit of a missing host. Teddy (James Marsden) gets a new backstory, which sets him off in pursuit of a new villain, leaving Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) alone in Sweetwater. Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) investigates the origins of madness and hallucinations within the hosts. William (Jimmi Simpson) finds an attraction he’d like to pursue and drags Logan (Ben Barnes) along for the ride.

The new batch of photos tease only a few of these points: Elsie and Stubbs in the Wild West; Teddy setting out with Marti (Bojana Novakovic) and saying his goodbyes, perhaps, to Dolores; and Bernard having a discussion with Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins), who’s looking pensive in his office surrounded by artificial faces.

For those new to the Westworld sensation, the series is an adaptation of the 1973 movie about an adult-themed amusement park in which guests can interact with an authentic Old West setting populated by robots (called hosts) programmed to bolster the fantasy. So far, some of the hosts have experienced glitches which threaten to harm the guests.

Also featured in the cast are Ed Harris, Thandie Newton, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Rodrigo Santoro, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan, and Clifton Collins, Jr. Star.

HBO has yet to release a video preview of episode 3, but I’m sure there are pieces within this “in the week’s ahead” reel:

Westworld airs Sundays at 9:00 p.m. EST on HBO. See the images below.
