Another familiar face is galloping on into Westworld, as Variety reports Lena Waithe has joined HBO's robots v. human drama for season 3.

The highly-prolific talent is also currently the showrunner on BET's Boomerang as well as the creator and executive producer of Showtime's The Chi, which just began season 2. In front of the camera, Waithe has appeared in Ready Player One, This Is Us, Transparent, and Dear White People. She won a writing Emmy in 2017 for the Master of None episode "Thanksgiving", which she also starred in alongside Aziz Ansari.

So what can we expect from her Westworld role? Quite impossible to say, as most of season 3 is being kept tightly under wraps and new episodes aren't expected to arrive until at least 2020. We do know, at least, that Breaking Bad alum Aaron Paul is also joining the cast, and that season 2 concluded with Evan Rachel Wood's host Dolores breaking the Westworld boundaries and entering the land of the living.

Back in June of last year, co-creator Jonathan Nolan teased a very different looking Westworld in season 3.

“It’s going to be a whole new world. And we technically have three [hosts], because Hale is out there, too, or someone who certainly looks like Tessa Thompson! We’ll come to see who’s really there and what that character is in the future. This series is about reinvention and scope. The first season was a more intimate look at the park from within the loops. In the second season, the hosts broke out of their loops and were able to explore more of the park. In the third season, they’ve broken out of the park itself. We’re in terra incognita. From the beginning, when Jonah and I were thinking about the series as far back as the pilot, we knew we wanted to explore other worlds in the park, and we also knew the one world we would start to see little glimpses of throughout the first two seasons was the real world, and that we would get there eventually — and when we did, it would be a whole new experience.”
