Wet Hot American Summer is a terrific film, and while comedy sequels don't usually work, translating the movie into a new format is promising.  We previously reported that Netflix picked up an 8-episode Wet Hot American Summer miniseries with writers David Wain and Michael Showalter once again handling the script.  Wain will return to the director's chair with Showalter serving as showrunner.  Furthermore, pretty much the entire cast of the 2001 film are planning to reprise their roles.

However, there's plenty of room for new additions to the cast, and Wet Hot American Summer is lining up some fantastic actors.  Hit the jump for more.

According to Deadline, actors set to guest star or have a recurring role include Michaela Watkins (Trophy Wife), Josh Charles (The Good Wife), John Slattery (Mad Men), Randall Park (The Interview's Kim Jong-un), Jayma Mays (Glee), Lake Bell (Million Dollar Arm), Paul Scheer (The League), Rob Huebel (Transparent), and Richard Schiff (The West Wing).  Wain will also have a part.

Perhaps it's because Wet Hot American Summer is so ridiculous and accommodates an ensemble so well that I don't have any problem seeing these actors fit into the world Wain and Showalter established, although it's worth noting that we still don't have the details on what they're planning for the miniseries.  However, Deadline reports:

"I hear Watkins will play a tough New Yorker, Charles is a guy from a rival camp, Huebel’s a rival professor to Pierce, Schiff is Pierce’s academic superior, Park’s a librarian in love with Shannon, Scheer is a journalist, and Wain is an acquaintance of one of the main characters from an Israeli kibbutz."

The wait for this one is going to be painful, so I guess I'll just wait it out by talking to a can of vegetables that can suck its own dick.
