This past weekend saw the release of Antoine Fuqua’s White House actioner Olympus Has Fallen, but we still have another similarly-premised action film coming our way later this year. Columbia Pictures has released the first teaser poster for director Roland Emmerich’s White House Down, and it’s actually fairly benign. The film stars Channing Tatum as a secret service agent who protects the President (Jamie Foxx) when the White House comes under attack. The poster appears to be showing audiences the calm before the storm, as we get a look at the Washington Monument (which decimated in Olympus Has Fallen) surrounded by a barrage of tourists. We recently addressed the issue of post-9/11 terrorism in movies as it relates to Olympus Has Fallen on the latest episode of our podcast The Collision, and I’m very interested to see what kind of tone Emmerich strikes with White House Down. The first trailer is expected to debut tomorrow, so check back here on Collider to take a gander.
Hit the jump to take a look at the teaser poster. The film also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, Richard Jenkins, Lance Reddick, James Woods, Garcelle Beauvais, and Rachelle Lefevre. White House Down opens on June 28th. [Update: Two more teaser posters have been released and they are now included after the jump as well.]
