Will Ferrell to Star in CASA DE MI PADRE (HOUSE OF MY FATHER); Will be in Spanish With English Subtitles

According to The Wrap, Will Ferrell is going to star and produce a Spanish-language comedy titled Casa de mi padre (House of My Father).  As you might imagine, since the movie is being done in Spanish, they’ll be English subtitles when it gets distributed.  No plot details have been released, but the project is being done through his production company (Gary Sanchez Productions) and casting is already under way.  Also, according to the report, someone at Funny or Die is directing the project and it’s not Adam McKay.

While Ferrell is known for doing some crazy things to get a laugh, this one is definitely going to be talked about as I can’t recall another big name American movie star/comedian making a movie in another language.  While mainstream audiences are usually apprehensive about watching films with subtitles, with Ferrell in the lead and the project being a comedy, this one might crossover.  What do you think?  Would you see a Spanish language movie with Will Ferrell as the lead?

Yes I'd see it and show up the day of opening. Will Ferrell can do no wrong IMHO, I didn't actually like Land of the Lost but I thought it was funny, in the right state of mind anythings funny. Same thing with Kicking and Screaming.

I always wonder, is Will always on? I mean when he is at home what is he like…

I can't wait to see this. Will Ferrell is brilliant. I'm really looking forward to seeing the on purpose mistranslations. What I would love to see also is a spy movie about Luxury, all though I know it will probably never happen (maybe a cameo in the next Austin Powers). Jag u ar, Jag u ar, Jag u ar, Jag u ar.
