Will Ferrell is always game to appear as Ron Burgundy beyond the Anchorman universe. So when The Big Lead reports that Ferrell will guest host a December 5 episode of SportsCenter, I first assumed he would do so in character as everyone’s favorite movie anchorman. However, the source is only able to reveal “there will be some sort of Ron Burgundy element to telecast.” I do expect David Koechner‘s sportscaster character Champ to be involved, and at that point, you ought to bring in Steve Carell and Paul Rudd if they are available.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. An ESPN spokesman declined to comment on the story, so we will have to wait for an official announcement for more details. Either way, Will Ferrell and/or Ron Burgundy guest hosting SportsCenter is a cool prospect. Anchorman: The Legend Continues opens December 20.
