Will Ferrell to GET MARRIED AND STAY SINGLE

The folks at Pajiba are reporting that Will Ferrell is set to headline I Do: How to Get Married and Stay Single, a remake of a 2006 French film. Ferrell will portray a man in his 40 something year old bachelor whose mother and seven sisters conspire to force him into getting married. Romance and hilarity ensue when he asks a friend’s sister to fake an engagement and ultimately leave him at the altar.

Granted, it’s a fairly simple plot but that might not be such a bad thing. Ferrell’s movies can come across as a series of improbable events all happening to the same uniquely dimwitted basketball player/NASCAR driver/anchorman. Sometimes that works (Anchorman) and sometimes it does not (Semi-Pro). Personally, I find Ferrell to be at his best when he is working from within a tightly written story as in Elf or Stranger than Fiction. I hope that I Do gives him that opportunity.
