Remember the heady days of 2003, a time when no one had seen a Batman or Superman film in years and then it seemed like Wolfgang Petersen, a man who brought us the classic "Das Boot" along with fun films like "In The Line of Fire" and "Air Force One", would direct a film with Batman AND Superman?  And then he decided to make "Troy" which was disappointing and then the highly unpopular and unsuccessful "Poseidon".  But like the submarine in "Das Boot", he will take as much damage as he has to in order to keep moving (I forget, what happens at the end of "Das Boot"?) According to Moviehole, his next film will be "Paprika", which is based on a book (already adapted into an anime) about "a machine that allows therapists to enter their patient's dreams. When it's stolen, all hell breaks loose, and only a young female therapist can stop it: Paprika."

I have to wonder if Petersen looks back to 2003, thinks about his chance to direct a Batman/Superman film, and softly weeps.
