Less than six months away from the debut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we're starting to get more information on Patty Jenkins' standalone Wonder Woman movie. Gal Gadot's starring role as the DC Comics' character will first be seen on screen in Zack Snyder's highly anticipated superhero outing, but she'll then take the reins in her own film on June 23, 2017. So while audiences will see Wonder Woman in fighting form early next year, they'll have to wait more than a year to find out Warner Bros.' cinematic vision of her origin story.

As we previously reported, Wonder Woman has been rumored to take place over a few distinct eras in time. A new take from JoBlo seems to support the movie spending time in some of these different periods, but the big takeaway now is that the film will actually precede the events of Batman v Superman. So rather than introducing Wonder Woman in the movie that centers on the conflict between the title heroes and then trying to shoehorn an origin story/solo adventure in between the events of that movie and November 2017's The Justice League Part One, Wonder Woman will be a full-on prequel. We'll dip into potential spoiler territory from here on out, so consider yourself warned.

Rather than three time periods, Wonder Woman is now reported to take place mostly in the modern era along with flashbacks to World War I. JoBlo also reaffirms the appearance of villains Circe and Ares, who act in concert to bring about global warfare, which Princess Diana clearly attempts to prevent. This would certainly explain the time spent during World War I, but the modern-day story seems to center on Diana Prince (Gadot) and Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) attempting to prevent the meddling gods from igniting World War III. In the course of these events, Prince reveals her past battles against Ares to Trevor, which is when the flashback sequences are expected to occur.

But back on the idea of Wonder Woman being a prequel to Batman v Superman, apparently the two films are tied together by more than just the order of events that take place. The report also mentions a superhero cameo by the Batman himself, who is presumed to be watching Wonder Woman during her battle, at which point (likely in an end-credits sequence) Batman will let her know that he's aware of her existence. This interaction is meant to tie into the events of Batman v Superman, and will reinforce the foundation of the super-team, The Justice League.
