Legendary writer-director Woody Allen has been making his way across Europe with each new film since 2005, and it looks like he may be headed to Denmark next. THR reports that Allen is eyeing Copenhagen as the setting for his next untitled film, following last year’s France-set Midnight in Paris. The director has been making his films in Europe for the last few years in order to take advantage of film subsidies that bankroll his projects, instead of clamoring for financing in a blockbuster-bent American film landscape. He tackled London in Match Point and You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, Spain in Vicky Christina Barcelona, and this summer’s Nero Fiddled takes place in Rome.
As expected, plot details regarding Allen’s possibly Copenhagen-set film are unknown, but he plans on shooting the pic this year. We also recently learned that Allen will be starring alongside John Turturro in Turturro’s directorial effort Fading Gigolo, which finds Allen and Turturro playing men who go into the gigolo business. Needless to say, I’m fairly eager to see Allen get his pimp on as he manages Turturro’s unlikely gigolo character.
