Woody Allen is putting together the cast for his next film, and it’s a rather eclectic ensemble. Deadline reports that Jesse Eisenberg, Bruce Willis, and Kristen Stewart will lead the ensemble of Allen’s 2015 effort, which is—as is the norm with Allen’s projects—currently untitled and without plot details. Allen previously worked with Eisenberg on To Rome with Love, and it’s nice to see that despite his new DC Universe role as Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and possibly Suicide Squad, Eisenberg is still keen on doing these kinds of projects. Willis and Stewart are first-timers when it comes to working with the legendary filmmaker, and it should be interesting to see what Stewart’s sensibilities bring to a Woody Allen film. She's got a bit of a leg up already, since she and Eisenberg showed excellent chemistry in the underrated Adventureland.

With the news that Allen is writing and directing a TV series for Amazon, I was actually a bit surprised to learn that he’ll be making a film this year. I imagined he’d be focusing on the TV show next, but it appears that he plans on squeezing in a movie in 2015 as well. Letty Aarsonson, Stephen Tenenbaum, and Edward Walson are once again producing, and the film will undoubtedly be released in 2016—likely by Sony Pictures Classics.

Allen’s next film for release is Irrational Man, which is a romantic comedy that stars Joaquin Phoenix as a philosophy professor in the midst of an existential crisis who finds purpose when he strikes up a romantic relationship with his student, played by Emma Stone. That film opens in theaters on July 24th.
