Midnight in Paris is the best film Woody Allen has made in years. Whimsical, delightful and enchanting, it’s also one of the best times you’ll have at the movies all year. It’s this charm that I’m hoping Allen maintains for his next film The Bop Decameron, for which the full cast was just announced. Allen himself described this next effort as a “broad comedy,” and it’s set to shoot in Rome next month.

The cast for The Bop Decameron includes Allen himself, Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Penélope Cruz, Judy Davis, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page, with Alison Pill, Alessandra Mastronardi and more set to co-star. Hit the jump to read the full press release, which includes the full cast listing.

Here’s the press release:

when people say Allen’s best film in years, is it really his best film in years? o is it just because he delivers a great film again?. i had troubles with Vicky Cristina when people said it’s his “best film in years”(still haven’t seen Match Point). i mean, Vicky wasn’t bad. it’s kind of delightful, but it’s not in the vein of Hannah and Her Sisters and Crimes And Misdemeanors, and espcially the 70s Allen. Bullet’s Over Broadway was kind of very good(and people said it’s his “best film in years” also at the time. but to say his best film in years, i really want a Woody Allen in TOP FORM. not just a good film, that is elevated because of his other mediocre-ness for the past decade

damn i want to see this film now! Midnight in Paris’ release date in the philippines is still unknown.

also, it’s nice that Darius Khondji will be back with him. love his work on Se7en, and his view of Paris in the trailer for Midnight is SOOOO GOOOD!
