28 New High-Resolution Images from WORLD WAR Z Starring Brad Pitt

Paramount Pictures has released a large batch of high-resolution images from director Marc Forster’s large-scale zombie pic World War Z.  The film stars Brad Pitt as a United Nations employee who traverses the globe in a race to stop a growing zombie pandemic that threatens to put an end to humanity.  The pic’s production troubles have not exactly been a secret, but Pitt has been doing everything he can to promote the film so one assumes he’s happy with the finished product.  The prospect of crafting a globe-trotting horror film on a tentpole scale still intrigues me, so here’s hoping everything came together in the end.

Hit the jump to take a look at the images.  The film also stars Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, David Morse, and Daniella KerteszWorld War Z opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on June 21st.

Here’s the official synopsis for World War Z:

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.  Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.

I love zombie movies, to death so to speak. But something about this movie, maybe it’s how they changed the book, the digital zombies, the gore-free PG-13 rating – something makes me really hope that on June 21st Man of Steel and The Purge take a collective dump on this movie. Anyone else actually HOPE this movie bombs? Or is it just me?

Adam, I don’t want to be a jerk or OCD, but I don’t think that World War Z is going to be in IMAX 3D. I looked on the IMAX website and it doesn’t list it. Now it did have it on posters, but I don’t think IMAX couldn’t ever confirm it, and paramount jumped the gun on that.

28 pictures of Brad Pitt staring bewilderedly offscreen. I like Brad Pitt, the source material, and the talent involved, but I don’t know what to think of this movie yet.

Kale re IMAX 3D … who cares?! Between the fake IMAX theatres and total lack of IMAX outside of large metropolitan areas … like, who cares?! IMAX is just another über-hyped technology designed primarily to extract cash from your wallet faster. LoL
