Before I opened this, I calculated the price I would be willing to pay at $23. I was off by a bit.

I guess Paramount wants to make piracy easy. All it’ll take is some entrepreneur pirate $50 to leak a quality version online. Fail move Paramount.

$48.75? This package makes zero sense. So minus the cost of a $20 3D IMAX ticket, I’d be paying $28.75 for things like 3D glasses, a popcorn, and a poster I wouldn’t want even as a fan. So unless that poster is incredible, I’m essentially paying $28.75 for a digital copy, which is how much a Blu-ray/3D Blu-ray/DVD/Digital copy combo pack would cost. Paramount, get your head out of your a**. And that’s assuming I’d bother to see this in 3D IMAX anyways – which I wouldn’t. So really that’s an extra $7 valuation on that poster and digital copy. WTF.

It’s an interesting idea. I like the idea of incentives like packaging a digital copy of the movie (if tickets had serial numbers that all theaters used, you could use them as coupons off a home video purchase). Custom 3D glasses are a silly bonus. Why would you want them? What happens if you purchase this package but hate the movie? Can you upgrade afterward?

maybe i’m being cynical but this sounds a ploy to convince as many people as possible to see a movie that has seen its fair share of dev trouble.
