A video from the set of director Marc Forster’s (Quantum of Solace) adaptation of Max Brooks’ World War Z has popped up online and it gives viewers a great look at what transforming into a zombie is all about (Hint: you become very flexible). Starring Brad Pitt, Bryan Cranston, Anthony Mackie, Matthew Fox, Mireille Enos and James Badge Dale, the film centers on a United Nations employee (Pitt) who trots around the globe in an attempt to stop a devastating pandemic.

Check out the set video after the jump. World War Z is set to open on December 21st, 2012.

Here’s the official synopsis for World War Z:

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.  Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.

As long as Angelina Jolie isn’t in the movie, I’m in.
Brad Pitt is a damned good actor.

I’m reading the book now and I don’t get the sense these zombies are like the Rage zombies from 28 days later….but watching the vid it looks like they’re sprinting for people….maybe it will say more about it in the book, but I only had the feeling they were like every other slow walking zombie

I’ve been pretty eager for this one also. I hope that they are more like the savages from the 28 saga’s. I mean…think about it: SLOW & CUMBERSOME = an easy target…FAST & FEROCIOUS = hard to hit. That’s the only type of zombies that I’d buy into stopping armies & toppling governments.

Jarvis, read the book. It goes into great detail how “slow & cumbersome” zombies are effective in being threats to armies.

Yep. Max Brooks seriously thought that issue through. There’s some interesting analogies to Vietnam and the war on terror in there.

I’m sure it’s someone who bought the new Star wars Blu-Ray…

    Im acturally pretty pissed.

    They can RUN… Really?
Common we’ve seen running zombies hundreds of times since 28 days later. WWZ is about DEAD, WALKING ZOMBIES. Why even make this movie if your not making the story about the book’s plot?
    Im not kidding, Why?

Im sure its still gunna be a cool zombie flick, but I just wish they would take it more seriously. The books awesome and its just a shame that they’re gunna brush it aside.

  • Steve Rudzinski

I hate that this was a book where there was no reason at all to divert from its style and plot. Yet they just ignore everything about the book, what it’s about, and all of the amazing stories in it and just sort of make their own zombie movie.

    oh dear, running zombies. FAIL!!!!!

@ JARVIS if you read the book you’d understand why, numbers, dumb polaticians, infected refugees, etc etc, running zombies are just stupid man, I hate who ever thought that up, I like max brooks the author of the book think about zombies in logical ways, for example when you die you suffer from what’s called rigomortis, now that is when your muscles tighten up so much its hard to move the joints and because your DEAD there is no blood pumping to give oxygen to the tissue thus makes running zombies completely unbelievable to me, 28 days later is the only exception yet most people fail to realize they arnt zombies just infected people that kill everything in sight, they can starve to death and die just like a living person cuz essentially that’s what they are.

It’s a tragedy that Hollywood ruined this masterpiece
