A new trailer has gone online for Wrath of the Titans.  There’s not much in the way of new footage, but the marketing continues to push the big monsters over the puny humans.  The sequel takes place ten years after the original, and Perseus (Sam Worthington) is called in to assist the gods in taking down the titans.  I’m not sure if plots have become more coherent or 3D post-conversion has advanced in a decade, but one thing is for sure: wood is impenetrable.  You can use planks of wood as a shield against a fireball.  Spare me your mythical weapons.  I want wooden debris.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film also stars Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, Danny Huston, Edgar Ramirez, Bill Nighy, Toby Kebbell, and Rosamund PikeWrath of the Titans opens March 30th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Wrath of the Titans:

A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus (Worthington) –the demigod son of Zeus (Neeson)–is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades (Fiennes) and Poseidon (Danny Huston). The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld. Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus’ godly son, Ares (Edgar Ramirez), switch loyalties and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans’ strength grows stronger as Zeus’ remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon’s demigod son, Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.

I saw the domestic trailer in 3D last weekend, and I was quite impressed. The 3D feels/looks immersive and the colors are almost painfully rich and bright. WB knows they screwed up last time, and it appears they don’t want this series to be the short-hand for lousy 3D-conversions.

Yeah, but I bet the effects for Wrath of the Titans won’t beat 3D post-conversions of Jar Jar Binks in the Phantom Menace. Admit it, Scott Mendelson, you know it’s gonna be true!

as crappy as the first movie was and NOT A FAN BOY…using the wooden debris as a shield against a fire ball WOULD In fact work for the first initial blow before it engulfs in flames. The main this is it takes the impact of the fire allowing YOU to be 1st degree burn free. God you’re so stupid, don’t you kikes know anything?

This looks awesome! I am seeing this. I thought the first one was ok, hopefully this one is better. Though I am missing that hot chick from the first movie.

This one is hot too! :D

I guess if Perseus can’t get the job done, then they need to give Kratos a call and let him finish everyone off.

      nerd alert!

Yeah. Looks like we’ll never get a God of War movie now. :(

Last remake sucked and this one will too. What happend to his hair, is he trying to emulate Harry Hamlin from the original. And why is this guy famous anyway? Another Hollywood confection that popped out of nowhere to become a megastar. It is all so sick and pathetic. Sure the original was campy and fun, but do they have to f*cking remake everything? Sick, sick, sick…
