Wreck-It Ralph was a big hit for Disney, and like Frozen, getting a sequel felt more like a matter of “When” rather than “If”. Frozen 2 was officially announced back in March, and now John C. Reilly has told producer Penny Hart of Irish radio program “RTE Arena,” during an interview at the Galway Film Fleadh that he’ll be wrecking it again in Wreck-It Ralph 2:

While it’s good to know that Reilly is coming back and that the studio hasn’t forgotten about the movie, it could still be a long ways off. The studio has Zootopia and Moana planned for 2016, and then there’s the question of how fast they want to/are able to get Frozen 2 into theaters. And this is all in addition to unannounced titles the studio might be working on.

As for what Wreck-It Ralph 2 could be about, director Rich Moore looks like he had no shortage of ideas. When he spoke about a sequel back in 2013, he said he wanted to try and work in mobile/casual gaming, and he also liked the idea of bringing in different Wreck-It Ralphs from mobile versions or Super Smash Bros.-like iterations of the character.

However Moore chooses to move forward, there’s no shortage of places a Wreck-It Ralph sequel can go, and I hope we’ll start moving there sooner rather than latter.
