If you are looking for an impressive young cast on an upcoming indie film, I’ve got the flick for you. Director Danny Mooney is developing the Vietnam-era love story AWOL and has already amassed an impressive list of up-and-comers. Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song), Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Austin Stowell (Puncture), and Aimee Teegarden (Scream 4) are all set to star in Mooney’s directorial debut. Now, according to Variety, Wyatt Russell will be joining them. Russell, who can be seen in the upcoming Cowboys and Aliens, is also set to appear in Judd Apatow’s upcoming but as-of-yet untitled film.Based on a true story, AWOL follows Hemsworth as the best friend and comrade-in-arms to Stowell, whose stateside girlfriend (Teegarden) dumps him. Together, they go AWOL and return to their Michigan hometown to win her back. For more on the film and the rest of the cast's previous and future works, hit the jump.Jim Burnstein and Garrett Schiff, who worked together on the TV movie Ruffian, are writing the film. AWOL is based around the anti-war movement at the University of Michigan, and production on the film in Ann Arbor is set to begin in mid-July (right about… now). As for the actors, Hemsworth is set to break out in a big way with the highly anticipated adaptation of The Hunger Games from director Gary Ross. He will also be seen alongside Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Hopkins in Arabian Nights. As for Stowell, his biggest contributions have come from the TV realm on The Secret Life of the American Teenager.Moving onto Teegarden, the actress should now have more free time to explore acting on the silver screen with the recent series finale of Friday Night Lights. In fact, she has already seen a slew of films released this year, including Scream 4, Prom, Beneath the Darkness, and the upcoming surfing flick, Beautiful Wave. Meanwhile, Palmer was last seen in Take Me Home Tonight and is up for roles in the zombie flick Warm Bodies and Oliver Stone’s Savages. Unfortunately, it looks that one of her big upcoming roles in the new installment of the Mad Max franchise, Mad Max: Fury Road with Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy, is no longer a go. The last thing we heard from Palmer was that she was no longer attached to the project, likely due to its recent delay in shooting.
