With this latest trilogy of X-Men movies coming to a close with the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, its just about the right time to be going over what exactly what was worth celebrating in these movies. I'll admit that I have been a passive fan of these movies thus far - I haven't seen Apocalypse yet -  but that isn't to say there haven't been elements of them that I have thoroughly enjoyed. There is, for instance, the thrilling Quicksilver sequence in X-Men: Days of Future Past, as well as the friendship formed between Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique and James McAvoy's Charles Xavier in First Class.

The thing that has stuck out the most to me, however, is Michael Fassbender's envisioning of Magneto, the metal-controlling nemesis of Xavier and his titular students. Not only is Fassbender a formidable performer, bringing Shakesperean oomph to the role of the righteous, angry mutant, but his performance is a superb reflection of the wiser, more nefarious villain played by Ian McKellan. In the latest clip for the film, which you can watch below, we get a small but potent reminder of the fury that Fassbender brings to his role, one of the most important characters in the X-Men mythology.

Here's the official synopsis for X-Men: Apocalypse:

Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
