It was recently reported that X-Men: Apocalypse will focus on the romance between Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), but don’t expect any PDA from the two because during a recent interview, Lawrence noted that she’s had some conversations about where we’ll find Mystique in the upcoming installment and that “she obviously needs to be in hiding.”

X-Men: Apocalypse is expected to go into production in Montreal in April 2015 and is heading towards a May 27, 2016 release.  Director Bryan Singer is currently on the hunt for actors to take the roles of a young Cyclops and a young Jean Grey.

Here’s what Lawrence told IGN:

“She’s very complex. She’s a hero to her own race in a way which makes her a villain to the opposite race. I don’t really know where she’s gonna go. I’ve had a few conversations about where we’ll find her. She obviously needs to be in hiding somewhere.”

There’s not much to the quote besides the fact that Mystique could be in hiding and considering Mystique has the ability to become any person she’d like, being in hiding could mean just about anything.  The idea of a Mystique/Magneto romance being at the heart of the film is still a bit of a turnoff so at this point, I’m far more interested in the potential of fresh characters like a young Cyclopes and Jean Grey than where Mystique’s storyline is heading.
