8 New Posters for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Starring Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, and Michael Fassbender

     April 4, 2014

Fox has released eight new posters for X-Men: Days of Future Past.  The follow-up finds Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) having his consciousness sent back to 1973 in order to help Professor X (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), and the rest of the X-Men: First Class crew stop Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage) and the rise of the Sentinels, giant robots programmed to exterminate mutants.  While not quite as bad as the most recent poster, these are still pretty awful.  If they’re not using the tired orange/blue color scheme, then the composition is haphazard, the titling is strange (I know Jackman’s name gets top billing, but it’s still weird to see it under Ian McKellen’s face), or the poster is just outright bizarre.  The strangest one is young Xavier reaching out to touch Storm’s face.

Hit the jump to check out the X-Men: Days of Future Past posters. The film also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Evan Peters, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Halle Berry, Lucas Till, Omar Sy, Adan Canto, Daniel Cudmore, and Bingbing FanX-Men: Days of Future Past opens in 2D and 3D on May 23rd.

Ok class, let’s start Photoshop 101

  • Roderick

They’ve lost the great costumes from First Class as well I see…

  • Steven

Don’t see much wrong with these to be honest.

  • Person

I’ve been avoiding trailers for this cuz that’s just what I do these days, but couldn’t avoid it when I saw Capt. America last night. Looks much darker than I thought it’d be, hopefully it all comes together well. These posters don’t really seem necessary though, they’re fine but kinda useless. Why do both Magnetos get two posters but not even one for both the Xaivers?

  • MJ

Jackman is getting a bit long int the tooth to keep playing Wolverine; same with Hale Berry. Not to mention Stewart and McKellen being way past their prime for those roles. This is starting to look like an unwanted Sex in the City or Entourage movie where you have middle-age people trying to pretend that they are all 20 years younger than their real age. It’s just not very convincing.

    • eternalozzie

every person you mentioned should have been recast for this film.

    • Nobby

‘coz old people can’t be action heroes? Maybe you like the new version of FF with 10 year olds in it. They are great actors, and made these roles their own. Fuck off and go play with some toys.

  • Leo Spaceman

I really don’t like that Jennifer Lawrence is getting such a large part of the photo. She is not at all the focus of the movie, and honestly I was bothered by her take on the character in First Class. I get that she is playing the naive emotional girl who grows cold eventually, but I really liked the cold version of the original trilogies.

Personally I wish they put clothes on her. The scales are getting old.

    • JBug

I couldn’t agree more, doctor. She’s turned mystique into a drama queen. I miss the cold tenacious killer that we had in Romijn.

      • mack

urgh but you gotta remember she cant be romijn, the character has growing up to do, she still just a child acting in a child way

X-Men: Days of Blue and Orange

  • Wesley

Attack of the Teal and Orange! These sadly look so amateurish…the movie deserves better.

  • Faptain America

Really crap job on these, honestly. No sense of energy/movement. I mean Storm/Magneto can literally fly. Beast/Wolverine/Mystique can jump several feet. How about a bit more kinetic energy, dynamism?
    Some other suggestions:
-young Magneto sitting in that glass cage.
-double Wolverine (new/old). Maybe a split shot with bone claws on one side and adamantium on the other.
-put the luscious Mystique front and center!
-young prof. X is screaming. Put Kitty Pryde in there somewhere.
-old prof. X front and center, looking like he’ll remote-fry your brains
    -Storm with ‘Storm eyes’
    -Iceman on the ice slide.

    Come on now.

  • yrulaughing

Weird that young Xavier and Storm are together on the same poster since they probably never meet during the movie

  • jd

The billing block of random letters give these away as unfinished art. Well played, internet.

  • Capgunny

They are all just terrible. If terrible and another adjective that was equal if not greater than somehow merged, spawning an even more voluptuous form of terrible, that’s the word I would use to describe every one of these half-farted out Photoshop rejects.
